Set Apart for God
Living a Life of Holiness Through Faith, Rhema, and the Spirit
Holiness is the state of being set apart for God, reflecting His character, and living in alignment with His will. It is not reserved for the afterlife but is a calling for this life, made possible through faith, obedience, and the transformative work of the Holy Spirit.
2 Corinthians 6:17-18:
"Therefore go out from their midst, and be separate from them, says the Lord, and touch no unclean thing; then I will welcome you, and I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty."1 Peter 1:15-16:
"But as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, 'You shall be holy, for I am holy.'"
Faith begins when a believer receives a Rhema word—a Spirit-illuminated and personal expression of the Logos, God’s eternal reasoning and will. The Holy Spirit brings life and relevance to this word, whether drawn from scripture or directly communicated, empowering the believer to understand and act on God’s will.
Romans 10:17:
"So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ."
The Key phrase is, “word of Christ”.
Through grace, believers are enabled to:
1. Hear and trust the Rhema word.
2. Act in obedience, even beyond their human limitations.
3. Be transformed, aligning with the Logos and reflecting God’s holiness in their thoughts, words, and actions.
The Holy Spirit (Seven Spirits of God) equip believers with wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, knowledge, reverence, and divine leadership. These attributes ensure believers are fully prepared to overcome challenges, obey God’s will, and live a life that demonstrates His character and purpose here on earth.
Holiness is not about moral perfection or waiting for transformation in heaven. It is about being set apart now, empowered by the Spirit, and fulfilling God’s will daily. Faith and obedience, working together under the Spirit’s guidance, create a life of purpose and alignment with God, reflecting His glory to the world.
This newsletter emphasizes that holiness is attainable now, not something to wait for after death, and encourages believers to live a life of faith, obedience, and transformation through the Spirit’s power.
I agree we can live this now. But I think we can go further than consecration. We can keep ourselves sin-free and cleaned up every morning or more. So that on a practical level we are physically clean and morally pure. The set apart idea is a religious thing. But it is covered by the "present yourself as a living sacrifice" in Romans 12:1. I suggest doing that every morning as well—after you clean up your sins. It works, once it becomes a normal part of your daily morning ablutions. It takes practice and a lot of prayer, but it's worth it.
